Greetings from Research Services. As part of the 226th General Assembly, the Committee of Domestic Engagement was tasked to "Direct the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy to create a new social witness policy and study of the responsible use of artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on the destabilizing potential AI has for employment, the economy, civil governance, and global conflict, increasing existing technological disparity, and the theological implications for its usage in the work of the church."
As such, Research Services is conducting this survey to "gauge the perception of the wider church on artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on the internal workings of all councils of the church. This survey shall inform the work of the study team."
We anticipate the need for every voice in this matter, and thank respondents in advance for their insight into the wider church's position on this emerging technology.
